Primary interest is development of therapeutic strategies for diabetes and related metabolic disorders (obesity and dyslipidaemia) with employment of cell-based assay systems (L6, HepG2, CaCo-2, 3T3-L1, and RIN5F), animal models (streptozotocin/alloxan induced diabetic models, fructose induced insulin resistance animal models) and human diabetic subjects. Working on the development of synthetic compounds, purified natural compounds, and natural derived or synthetic formulations into potential antidiabetic adjuvants. Elucidation of mechanism of antidiabetic and antioxidant action of various natural and synthetic compounds.
Safety and extent of toxicity analysis using cell based, Artemia salina model, and animal models (chronic and acute toxicity analysis, CCl4 induced hepatotoxicity in Wistar rat and mouse models).
